Who knows when, but here is the latest on Jonah's speech.

He has been 50% accepted for preschool. I can't remember which one, but either the funding program has approved him, or the school board, and the other will approve (or not) in May or June. In the first week of June, we will attend an information session on the programs available to him. We have already found out more about them and told them that we are only interested in the two day a week speech class, not the four day a week general delays class. We just don't feel that Jonah should be spending four days a week getting 25-50% of the therapy he needs because there are so many other kids with other delays and disorders that need help in the same class. That class includes kids with autism, behavioral issues, occupational/physical therapy delays, etc. The two day a week class may have 1-2 kids with one of those issues in addition to the speech, but the class focuses on speech primarily.

I also made some other calls and we have an assessment for next week with another privately funded program. Jonah rides the age bracket, so could be in either program, but the great thing is that they will do home therapy. It is less often (between once every month to once every 2-3 weeks), but we could combine it with a weekly playgroup for kids with delays. Even better, he could get started immediately instead of waiting until September.

This is very encouraging for us as he may now have access to two different types of therapy for his speech at the same time! With a newborn, it is equally exciting to know that they will come to us and he will get one on one help which I think he will benefit from more than group therapy!

Joel and I are feeling very encouraged!
