What we have gathered from the garden this year is by no means a spectacular amount of produce. I have my reasons, mainly stemming from children and time. Such as, children picking before ripeness, children picking peas as they walk by, children tearing plants out thinking the garden is a sandbox, children taking up my time not allowing me the time nor energy to water as much as I should have. And I should clarify, other than the last, it is not MY children I am referring to.

Jonah has developed a healthy respect for gardening, and a very cute little hobby. He relishes in the opportunity to peek and see if there are any strawberries hiding under their canopy of leaves, any peas awaiting his plucking, and any new flowers ready for smelling. And he has learned that digging for potatoes can be very rewarding, even with a sore arm!

Next season will see some changes to the soil, some changes to the way seeds are sown, and changes to the type and amount of produce. I'm hoping for more next year.
Obviously.

In the meantime, we didn't do that bad. Several pounds of potatoes, a few zucchinis (although more are still growing), four heads of lettuce, many handfuls of peas, some strawberries, and a few edible carrots. There is still plenty of thyme as well which is waiting in the garden alongside the leeks, onions, peppers, chives, and one lone prickly cucumber. Other than the thyme, I don't know that the rest will be ready for picking before they are ready, but we'll see!
