Jonah's very sweet aunt, Kristin, made this comment to me the other day.

Since he was around, oh, maybe 18mths old (?), Jonah has become quite particular. Not just about one thing. About most things!

For example:

-cutlery at dinner must be a yellow Cookie Monster fork. Not a plastic fork, not any other toddler fork, not a "daddy fork", a yellow Cookie Monster fork.
-spoons must be a slim plastic First Years spoon. Not a wide one, not a yellow Cookie Monster one, a slim plastic First Years spoon. And preferably, a red or purple one.
-his drinking cup must remain in the original spot on his placemat for the entirety of his meal. Even if it is centered between him and his plate. He'll work around it.
-after bath, he insists on bum cream. He doesn't need it, but he insists on it.
-not every night, but about half the time, he is insistent that his feet are cold and he needs socks on for bed.
-right before bed, after stories, he 'needs' to look at the photos on the floor next to our bed (ya ya, I'll hang them up later), then the ones on the book shelf. We must also name each person in the pictures and stick out our tongue like Jonah is in one picture. Don't forget to point out the red ribbon/tassle behind the one frame!
-every morning on the way to dayhome, he must have the same items in his bag. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, Mater, McQueen, Chuck, and puppy. If one is missing, it is the end of the world.

And the one that makes him abnormal and weird...

he cleans up. Not only does he clean up, he cries if it a)isn't done and he didn't get to help and b)you put things in the wrong bucket or spot, depending on what it is.

I'm not kidding. He has been getting more and more particular since he was 18mths, but since he started at this new dayhome (so, 2.5mths ago), he is borderline OCD with it.

What really made Kristin's jaw drop was when Jonah thought there was a spill on the carpet and ran to 'his' cabinet in the kitchen, opened the door, and pulled out one of his cleaning cloths. He proceeded to run over to the supposed spill, and dab at it, asking for help.

I love it.

By the way, he also asks for us to get a cloth to wipe his hands if he gets just a dab of food on a finger, or if he spills even a drop of food/drink on the table.
