As many of you know, we aren't big fans of the heat.
Jonah on the other hand, is.
The kid sleeps without a problem in the heat even though he is soaking wet when he wakes. He will play outside with a sweater and pants on even though it is over 30 degrees outside. I don't know what to say other than that is one thing about him that he most certainly did not get from his mother.

So, after a very hot week and a muggy house, we decided that on Saturday we would take Jonah to the Legislature Grounds for his first wade in the pool.

He was none too pleased.

Then he decided to try again.

He was still unimpressed.

But he tried again.

He really liked it.
The kid splashed like a duck and he waddled like a duck. It was cute.

Then Joel taught him one of the most important lessons in life.

There is free money to be had if you look close enough.

So, he grabbed a few coins from his wallet and tossed them in the pool. Jonah eagerly picked them up and put them in his pocket. He was so proud and you could tell he couldn't wait to get home to put them into his little train piggy bank.

Today as we were grocery shopping, I mentioned to Joel that I was a little surprised that he did this, seeing as how it could inflict a life long habit into our son. After all, he now thinks that any coin on the ground is fair game. Needless to say, I was more than shocked to hear him say "Oh well, I don't mind because every kid does it".

This came from the guy who used to wash his hands up to his elbows like a surgeon scrubbing in...

when he was 8 years old.
