It's probably been awhile, and although most of you know exactly what we have been up to, some may not (sorry Grandma Harstad!). Here is a quick run through for you all.
May - "Goodbye Chestermere":

We finally decided that it was time to return back home. After nearly 4 years in Calgary, we missed our family and friends and wanted to come back. Jonah needed his family too. So, we sold and packed up our home in Chestermere (Jonah's first home) and headed on back home to the Edmonton area. Jonah did great with the move and spent one final day with his first real friend, Avery.
Here is one of my favorite photos taken in our last few weeks in Chestermere. Jonah loves his Little Tikes car, but prefers to just get in and out of it, and push it around. On this particular spring day, it was nice and crisp out and Joel and Jonah had just finished giving his car a tour of our street.
Then end of May came quickly as Joel and I both finished up our jobs in Calgary and then packed the moving truck with some friends (of whom we appreciate very much!)
June:
We arrived at our new home in Sherwood Park.
No, we still aren't settled, but that is a whole other story (more to come on that!).
After a sleepover with Grandma Harstad and Aunty Kristin, Jonah came to his new home, armed with three balloons which he guarded with his life for the next two weeks (yes, the helium lasted THAT long!).
He was a champ at adjusting to his new home.
The following week, we were very grateful to have found an open spot in a wonderful dayhome. Jonah has settled in very well with the other kids and Joel and I love the care that he is receiving. What a huge sigh of relief! Stay tuned for some photos of some cute crafts that he makes each week. On Fridays, they bake and send some home. Sorry, they get eaten before the camera even gets a chance at a photo!
July:
To start the month off, I took Jonah to the Canada Day parade. First of all, what happened to all the free candy and when did all the politicians and city utility vehicles take over parades?! I can honestly say, I don't think we'll be back. Either way, Jonah liked the gymnasts, the fire truck, police car, and the Stormship Troopers. Don't ask me how they fit in!

As the month came to a close, we took Jonah to his first Klondike Days. Er, I mean, Capital Ex. No rides due to the heat and lines, but he enjoyed some lemonade, mini donuts (his favorite), ice cream, and a small farm. This farm was great. Jonah 'fed' the animals and received a product from them in return. He then sold it at the 'farmers market' and got money to spend at the grocery store. Once he purchased everything on his list, he was able to pick out his own treat. He chose apple juice. :)
Here are some really cute photos of that day:

Jonah and his new favorite fair food - mini donuts.

Another favorite...ice cream!

At the farm fair. Stopping by the hatched egg for a photo op. Pretty unsuccessful!
So, here we are in August. Our basement suffered a partial flood due to the sump pump failing and some very heavy rainfalls. Mine and Joel's home offices are out of commission for another 6 weeks I am sure, and our nice cool basement is going to waste during these hot summer days. Oh well, what do you do?
In the meantime, we painted Jonah's room and now it just needs his big boy bed and decor up (I'll post photos when it is all done).
It's just the start of making this house our home I guess!
Oh, and as many of you are well aware, Jonah's vocabulary is pretty limited at this time. Joel and I attended a class with a speech pathologist last week which taught tips on how to encourage first words. Don't get me wrong, Jonah has said many words (between 40 and 60), but he doesn't repeat them much, if ever. He understands VERY well, and communicates quite well. And for a boy who doesn't use many actual words, he sure is vocal! Anyway, I digress. Since that time, Jonah has started to make some effort. This weekend, he said "buh" (book), "oo beh beh" (Pooh Bear), and "no nunyun!" (no onions!) . It could be coincidence since he says about 3 words every 3 months, but we are remaining optimistic!
That's all for now!
