The other night we took Jonah to Fort Edmonton Park's Christmas Reflections for the first time. We were fortunate enough to have some of the last available tickets, and they just happened to coincide with the "warmest" day in the last few weeks. This was a nice start to Christmas break as it was the same day of Jonah's last day of school.
The evening started off with a bonfire to warm us up while we waited for Max and Major - our two horses that would pull our sleigh through the old streets. Once they arrived, we began our ride and the guide provided his narrative about Christmas in old Edmonton. Our personal favorite part of this was when our dear child made it known to the whole sleigh what Christmas was really all about.
Guide: "And now we are in 1905 Edmonton, where people are starting to complain that Christmas is getting too commercial. This is around the same time that the Sears catalogue comes out for everyone to see what they would like. People are getting upset that stores are making people think that Christmas is all about presents."
Jonah: "YES!"
Eh, he's three.
We continued the evening with hot chocolate, cider, a visit with Santa, some Christmas crafts, a sucker, and frozen toes.

It was fun, Jonah was elated to have a date with Mommy and Daddy too.
We'll be back next year, but better dressed!

Hey, we did this a few years ago too, before kids. I think it would be much more fun seeing it through their eyes.
