I feel so relieved and like I finally have some answers.
The appointment yesterday went really well. For both boys, we were told that there is most likely an irritant to them, but doing an elimination diet would be difficult for Jonah in particular. We could do a really simple allergy test, but it isn't cheap. Without insurance covering it, we will just put it on hold. Their skin isn't that bad. So at this point, we are trying to rebalance their systems which involves a few supplements (some of which I was giving and never did get more of...whoops!).
We were also prescribed something to boost Jonah's immune system for school and help him fight off any illnesses he may catch.
For Benett, we were given the go ahead to give goats milk!!! The doctor was very sure that he does not in fact have an allergy to the cows milk protein, and that it is just an intolerance. So we only have to add a few things to his milk as long as he is only on one bottle a day. More than that, and we need to add a few more things. Unfortunately, his bowels have taken the brunt of this, so his liver took over and that too has been overworked. Or something like that - there was a lot of information being shared. So we have a few things to help heal his liver and bowels, and again, rebalance his systems.
Some of you know of my fear of vaccinations as well and that we have chosen to go an alternative route for Benett. The doctor was supportive of this, never sharing his personal feelings on it, and gave us something to help Ben after his shots to kickstart his immune system to get rid of the toxins. It may all be a bunch of hooey, but it gives me some peace with it all.
So that's all! The only other bit of good news is that Mr. B has been gracious enough to Jonah and I this morning by giving us a full 2 hour solid nap! Enough time for some bubbles outside, running around the yard, and a video. Now, time to do more puzzles! The kid is on a puzzle kick to say the least (he puts 12 puzzles together each day).
