Someone messed up.
And now, I, in all my perfectionism, am freaking out because birth announcements went out with the WRONG information on them. Not only that, my kid's baby book will have either a crossed out line of information, or a glob of white out staring him right in the face. I'm leaning more towards the pen mark...at least it will match the rest of the page. Oh, and I just realized the blog post about his birth also has incorrect information on it too...grrrrr.
Whoever measured Ben at the hospital tore the measuring tape and told us he was just under 22" at birth. I thought "Hmm, that seems awful long" especially seeing as how he weighed less than Jonah at birth and looked about the same despite this information that he is 1.5" longer than he was. Weird. But I accepted it.
Then, at Benett's 10 day checkup, the nurse measured him and gave me the length in metric. On a side note, this whole metric system is never going to catch on, will it? I know I am not a fan. Anyway, I digress. When I got home, I converted it and mentioned to Joel that something wasn't right. How could our son have shrunk? I brushed it off as the nurse not being that great (really, she wasn't!).
So, yesterday we arrive for Benett's 4 week checkup. Well, looky here. The measurement is showing, yet again, that our child has shrunk from his length at birth. So I ask the nurse (a different one) to measure again...please. It was verified. The hopsital messed up.
So folks, not that anyone cares, Benett was not nearly 22" at birth. He was 20.5"
We think.
Oh, and again, not that anyone cares, but the boy gained another 2lbs since his last checkup. So he is 9lbs and 2oz. Amazingly, right on the 50th percentile for height and weight. And only 1oz less than Jonah was at the same age. Twins?
